THE CHALLENGE PROCESS


Stage 5: Finals or Grand Finale20thJan 2024


The Final event usually brings together various stakeholders including students and graduates with innovative ideas, successful entrepreneurs, researchers, academia, policy makers, financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and industrial partners with keen interest in innovation and entrepreneurship. On the day of the Final event a number of activities are performed including:

  • For UDSM track, during theFinals of the Annual Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge there will be a selection of the best three innovative ideas (i.e., Top 3 Teams) with potential for development into viable businesses.
  • Exhibitions of innovations and products from selected continuing students and graduates, priority given to those who applied for the challenge but not selected.
  • Inspirational talks and testimonies from young successful graduate entrepreneur who had participated in the previous UD-AIECs.
    Creative music performance from the Department of Creative Arts.

The Final round will be carried out such that:

  • The top 7 teams from the Semifinals will compete through pitching their ideasin front of judges, guest of honour, UDSM management, students, staff and general public.
  • Top 3 teams will be selected as the winners of UD-AIEC 2024 and they will be awarded with monetary prizes and pre-incubation service support at DIEN so as to enable them to further develop their ideas.
  • Other awards (UNICEF, AESDEA, JICA) will be presented with respect to the challenge tracks as shown on Table 1. 
    All the 20 teams which had reached the stage of Semifinals will be awarded with Certificates.
